Descripción:
What problem is this commitment aiming to solve?

There is a lack of comprehensive and high-quality socio-economic and demographic data in West Africa, which impedes effective policymaking and equitable development. While there is growing awareness among NSO leadership of what needs to change, these countries do not have easy access to relevant capacity-building services to better plan, implement, and promote data use and link it to better policies. Amaristat's commitment aims to address these issues by providing an easily accessible set of tools and services for statistical capacity building, all targeted at improving not only the production but also the use of data.

Briefly describe the commitment including key activities, strategies and intended outcomes.

KEY ACTIVITIES:

Key activities include webinar Series and Stakeholder Dialogue; capacity building  programs, research works and production of policy briefs
STRATEGIES:

1.      Identify gaps and needs of NSOs in their data production

2.      Collaborative engagement and sharing of knowledge to help build capacity and encourage data harmonisation in the region

3.      Evidence generation and policy influence through research works and policy briefs

INTENDED OUTCOMES

The expected outcomes include

1. Enhanced data systems for policymaking, improved access to socio-economic data, increased use and value of data investments, and demonstration of better-informed development strategies.

2. Increased awareness of the importance of quality, reliable data for development

3. A skilled workforce capable of collecting, analysing, and managing high-quality data.
•     Institutions strengthened to sustain reliable data systems.

4. Research outputs and policy briefs that translate evidence into actionable recommendations for decision-makers.
