ECLAC is committed to consolidate technical support and capacity building programs across Latin America and the Caribbean in economic and social statistics to help countries strengthen their data collection and analysis capabilities.

What problem is this commitment aiming to solve?

The countries of Latin America and the Caribbean recurrently request technical assistance and training on various methodological issues related to the production of official statistics. Not only in emerging issues such as small areas estimation and in the implementation of methodological updates such as the national accounts system, but also in traditional statistical operations in relation to sampling frames, survey designs and production of indicators for monitoring the 2030 Agenda.

Briefly describe the commitment including key activities, strategies and intended outcomes.

The implementation of these technical assistance activities includes national workshops, continuous online assistance, and NSO visits by ECLAC's teams.

Describe how you will monitor progress and evaluate the success of this commitment?

Self-evaluation within ECLAC's team, periodic reporting of progress to the countries.
