Commit to data and transform action into impact

The 2024 UN World Data Forum calls for concrete commitments to harness data to achieve the SDGs.

Explore commitments

From grassroots initiatives to global endeavors, commitments vary in scale and address persistent data challenges across local, regional, and global landscapes. They encompass diverse types of data and scopes of impact across all 17 SDGs.

They are voluntary, measurable, impactful actions with a clear timeframe and are not limited to financial commitments.

Data2X is bringing together partners to harmonize gender data tools and services provided to countries

Data2X is bringing together partners to harmonize gender data tools and services provided to countries. This effort aims to improve coordination and enhance national capacity for gender data systems. By uniting expertise, the collaborative is paving the way for more effective and impactful gender data initiatives, ensuring that data-driven policies better address the needs and realities of women and girls worldwide.

UNICEF and the Responsible Data for Children

UNICEF and the Responsible Data for Children (RD4C) initiative are leading a project aimed at improving how data about and for children is handled during humanitarian crises. This project focuses on engaging youth in discussions about data use and technology, such as AI, to ensure stakeholders operate with social license and manage data responsibly.

Development Initiatives is partnering with local governments

Development Initiatives is partnering with local governments, supported by national counterparts, in Uganda and Kenya, to strengthen foundational data systems and drive digital transformation. Active use of collected data by local personnel and governments creates a virtuous cycle: increased data use improves data quality, leading to greater data quantity. Development Initiative is committing to technologies that can be owned, managed, and developed by local actors.

Why commit?

At the midpoint of the SDGs, a commitment reignites the global push to use data for sustainable and inclusive development. All actors in the data ecosystem have a role to play in our quest to achieve Agenda 2030.
