Global Action Mosaic (GAM), a project of Humanitarian Tracker, maps the real, everyday work that people and communities are doing to advance the Sustainable Development Goals — turning local voices into global visibility. Every dot on our map is a project someone chose to start: a community garden, a refugee support network, a clean-water initiative, a youth mentorship program. Building on more than a decade of community-verified data, this commitment extends that work into Washington State and into a dedicated Syria track, developed with diaspora and Syria-based partners tracking recovery and impact projects on the ground.
Official SDG reporting relies mainly on top-down government and agency statistics. These are essential, but they miss the scale and texture of what's actually happening in neighborhoods and communities — the everyday action that never shows up in a national survey. There is no consistent, structured way to see who is doing what, where, in near real time, and that gap limits the data systems the 2030 Agenda depends on. It also means the people closest to the work — community organizers, diaspora groups, local nonprofits — rarely see their efforts reflected in the numbers that shape policy and funding decisions.
By UNGA81, we will launch our live dashboard, currently in development, and align it with our map data pipeline so the figures people see are consistent everywhere they appear. The dashboard will feature an AI assistant, the Global Projects Intelligence tool, that helps users draw insights to inform SDG and impact-project progress worldwide. We will publish an annual public report of project counts by SDG goal and region, timed to the UNWDF/UNGA cycle, and extend our reach through the Washington State chapter and the Syria track described above.
Intended Outcome
A public, community-sourced complement to official SDG statistics — already usable and verifiable today — that grows in reach, geographic coverage, and integration with the wider data-for-SDGs community year over year. Beyond data, we aim to connect project owners with funding, internships, and networking opportunities in their regions — turning visibility into tangible support for the people doing the work. Together, these steps carry the momentum from Medellín into concrete, time-bound action ahead of UNWDF 2026 in Riyadh.
GAM is as a living commitment rather than a fixed deliverable. We hold regular internal reviews of GAM's performance against its stated objectives, checking not just whether the numbers are growing, but whether the platform is still capturing what communities actually need it to capture as the humanitarian and development landscape shifts. Where gaps emerge — whether in data quality, geographic coverage, or relevance to on-the-ground realities — we will treat that as a signal to adjust the platform's design and priorities, rather than waiting for a fixed review cycle to catch it. We intend to report on our progress at UNWDF, sharing what we've learned since launch and how the commitment has evolved in response to community input. Between forum convenings, we will provide periodic progress updates at UNGA sessions, so that our accountability to this commitment isn't limited to a single annual moment but is visible and checkable throughout the year.
