About Us
Building on discussions leading up to the 2024 UN World Data Forum (UNWDF) in Medellín, Colombia, this collaborative effort continues to advance discussions and catalyze action for better data and improved lives. This initiative, spearheaded by a small secretariat comprising PARIS21 and Open Data Watch and operates under the strategic oversight of the UN’s High-Level Group on Capacity Building and Partnership, with further guidance from the UN World Data Forum Programme Committee.
The Commit to Data campaign builds on the outcomes of previous UNWDFs, including the development of the Cape Town Global Action Plan, which shapes the trajectory of the data for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) community until 2030. Our focus is on sustaining the energy from Medellín by fostering actionable steps and providing strategic guidance for sustainable and inclusive development.
Our goal is clear: to ensure that the UNWDF results in outcomes that generate tangible positive impacts for individuals. As we look ahead to the 2026 UN World Data Forum in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, our commitment is to ensure that the dialogues and commitments from Medellín translate into action.
This campaign is made possible through the generous organizational support of the secretariat and financial backing from the Hewlett Foundation.
